Chumba Casino at a glance
Chumba is the brand that defined the sweepstakes model. VGW launched it in 2012, and it remains a household name. It's smaller than the newcomers, with about 200–250 mostly in-house games, but it pays a 1 SC daily bonus and offers low gift-card redemptions. VGW settled with New York for $8M and is now facing suits from Florida (Aug 2026) and Kentucky (Jun 2026).
The operator is VGW, and the brand dates from 2012. The lobby lists About 200–250 games, with titles from Mostly in-house VGW titles. It runs on the standard US sweepstakes model with two currencies: Gold Coins (GC) for pure entertainment play and Sweeps Coins (SC), which can be redeemed for prizes once you've played them through.
Welcome offer and free coins
Open a new Chumba Casino account and you get 2M GC + 2 SC, without spending anything. After that, the daily reward is 200,000 GC + 1 SC. There's also a postal route, the alternative method of entry (AMOE): a handwritten request posted to the address in the sweepstakes rules is worth about 5 SC per request.
Chumba Casino sells optional Gold Coin packages with bonus Sweeps Coins (SC) on top. We didn't record a verified first-purchase deal, so we'd treat any banner offer as subject to the terms shown at checkout. Buying is never required, and it doesn't change your odds of winning.
How sweepstakes play works at Chumba Casino
Each game has a switch between two modes. In Gold Coins (GC) mode you're playing purely for entertainment and nothing you win can be cashed out. In Sweeps Coins (SC) mode, wins are counted toward prizes. US promotions law makes that possible because the prize currency is always available free, which is why every legitimate sweepstakes casino offers a mail-in entry.
Playthrough: 1x on SC. In practice, each prize coin must be wagered at least the stated number of times before it becomes redeemable. For Chumba Casino that's in line with the industry standard.
Redemptions: minimums, speed and payment methods
This is the section we weight most heavily (30% of the score), because it's where sweepstakes casinos really differ. At Chumba Casino: Cash from 100 SC. Gift cards: gift cards from 10–25 SC. Payment rails: Skrill, ACH bank transfer.
Verification (KYC): ID verification before redemption. Every US sweepstakes operator has to confirm your identity, age and location before paying a prize, usually with a photo ID, a selfie and sometimes proof of address. Our advice is the same everywhere. Complete verification right after you sign up, use the same name as your bank account, and redeem to a method in your own name. Our redemptions subscore for Chumba Casino is 3.9/5.
Games and software
Chumba Casino offers About 200–250 games. Notable studios include Mostly in-house VGW titles. Live dealers: No live dealers. Slots make up most of the library, as at nearly every sweepstakes casino. Table games and live shows, where offered, play in the same two coin modes. We score games on the size and quality of the library, studio variety, and whether live tables or originals add something extra. Chumba Casino scores 3.0/5.
Where you can play, apps and age limits
Minimum age: not stated in our sources, so check the terms (most US sweepstakes casinos require 18+, and some states 21+). Apps: Chumba Lite (Gold Coins only) on iOS and Android. State rules are changing fast. California, Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New York and Tennessee have banned sweepstakes casinos by statute, Oklahoma's ban takes effect on November 1, 2026, and operators sometimes leave a state with little notice. Always read the eligibility section of the current sweepstakes rules before you sign up. Availability and apps score 3.9/5.

Treat review sites with care. Sweepstakes casinos actively ask happy players for reviews, and angry players are more likely to post after a loss. That's why we weight the patterns (the same complaint repeated across sites) more than the average score. The user sentiment subscore for Chumba Casino is 4.2/5.
